ABOUT

The "comfort women", were young women and girls who were coerced or abducted into sexual slavery for the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. These women and girls remained in silence for almost half a century before coming forward to tell their story. The Glendale Peace Monument (2013), and many other such monuments and memorials around the world, have been constructed so that we may never forget the lessons from this dark segment of history.
